<br />13.0 APPLICATION SPECIFICATIONS
<br />
<br />The proposed Document Imaging and Management System (DIMS) IS an integration of 'best of breed'
<br />products and technologies from LaserFlche, and R&S Integrated Products The LaserFlche DIMS
<br />solution has been implemented around the world In over 20,000 installations, in both stand-alone
<br />applications and as integrated solutions, by a broad array of Value Added Resellers and systems
<br />Integrator such as R&S, This section provides a more detailed view of the proposed DIMS solution for
<br />SDLe,
<br />
<br />LASERFICHE DIMS - The LaserFiche Document Imaging and Management System (DIMS) is a mature
<br />solution, having been originally developed in 1987 The first Windows version was released in 1993. R&S
<br />has a DOS version, and Windows versions 1,x through 6,x. New releases are available at least once per
<br />year, with interim builds released approximately every quarter,
<br />
<br />For DIMS, we are proposing LaserFiche's scalable enterprise solution, LaserFiche 'United', The proposed
<br />LaserFiche 'United' DIMS leverages n-tier architecture to deliver maximum extensibility across the
<br />enterprtse with distinct client, bUSiness logic, data and document layers, Document storage can be
<br />handled by any network-connected storage media, including highly scalable Storage Area Networks, while
<br />the database layer can be distributed across multiple SQL Server machines. There are over 20,000
<br />LaserFiche installations worldwide,
<br />
<br />SDLe's documents and related records can contain scanned Input and imported image files, electronic
<br />files generated with MS Office applications, faxed Input, and virtually any paper or electronic source, The
<br />DIMS will manage records and all related documents generated by word-processing appicatlons, email,
<br />photographs, audio and video documents, and paper documents The DIMS provides file and document
<br />creation, access, modification, annotation, printing, viewing, and deletion capability,
<br />
<br />The DIMS solution provides image management functions such as creation, access or deletion, and prtnt
<br />Security is controlled by the DIMS administrator for each individual and group user, folder and subfolder,
<br />and each document and page The R&S DIMS provides Group level security for system objects and
<br />functions
<br />
<br />The proposed LaserFlche DIMS Will provide fast access to SDLe's various department's documents for
<br />multiple users and secure remote access, Users will be able to rapidly view and retrieve documents
<br />without having to manually search through paper documents LaserFiche 'Webllnk' provides access to
<br />records via the Internet and Intranet (through a standard web browser Interface). The LaserFiche Web
<br />Access module will provide full read/write access through a web browser, allowing remote users to also
<br />participate In any automated workflow processes,
