The School District of Lee County, Florida - RFP # 6211
Document Imaging System

August 5, 2004

Using the LaserFiche DIMS, SOLC's staff could be able to create ad hoc folders on the desktop and insert
combinations of pages for distribution to other staff. SDLC staff can pull several key pages from a file,
create new document(s) and provide to a supervisor for review This can be accomplished without
sending the entire document, files, or folders,

Client access can be accomplished through one of three interfaces (1) the standard network client
(Read/Write clients and Read Only clients); (2) the Web-based Read-Only thin client (Weblink); (3) the
Web-based Read/Write thin client (Web Access) (does not allow scanning functions). The Web-based
interfaces require Microsoft's Internet Explorer browser (Version 60 or greater) due to the use and
leverage of Active Server Pages,

Client access licensing for the LaserFiche DIMS IS concurrent. This means that the number of licenses
does NOT have to match the number of potential or anticipated users Licensing should be purchased for
the expected number of users who will require simultaneous access to the system, either Read/Write or
Read-Only clients,

LaserFiche United offers a unique combination of a robust, scalable document management system and
the ability to implement very rapidly, With LaserFiche United, organizations can achieve the efficiencies
associated with digitizing documents and automating document-centric processes in a matter of days, not
the weeks or months it takes to get other systems up and operational. The LaserFiche system uses
'stored procedures' instead of OOBC dnvers to accomplish DIMS communication with the SQL database.
Integration is provided through an extensive COM object library to activate events and functions

Because LaserFiche and R&S Integrated Include all necessary document capture, processing and
distribution tools, as well as an automated workflow suite (optional), there is no need to install and
configure other third-party tools to achieve a complete turnkey document management system
Furthermore, utilizing LaserFlche Weblink and/or Web Access for retrieval users and workflow
participants allows rapid implementation enterprise-wide.

With all user activity occurring within a single comprehensive solution, user training IS minimized and
users become efficient very quickly, The intuitive nature of the LaserFiche folder structure and search
interface makes it possible for users to organize and locate documents without assistance from SDLC's IT
professionals, freeing them up to maintain other core applications

LaserFlche has always provided 'leading edge' features and technology In its Document Imaging and
Management System In 1987, LaserFiche was one of the first desktop imaging systems, one of the first
to provide word or phrase highlights on the Image when doing text searches, and one of the first to provide
redaction for Image records LaserFiche 'Plus' COR Publishing IS a progressive method to archive DIMS
data to optical disc

R&S Integrated Products and Services, Inc.

Page 66

,;
~~.
