This <br /> technology has largely replaced traditional means of creating backup documents (such as <br /> microfilming) because EDMS allow for a far greater flexibility of use than such means, and can <br /> increase the productivity of an organization by streamlining business processes dependent on <br /> efficient information management. EDMS technology would also provide for an effective means <br /> of safeguarding the City's records in the event of a disaster such as severe weather or fire, since <br /> enormous quantities of scanned records can be saved on optical disks (CD-R or DVD's) which <br /> take up very little space and can be placed in a protected location offsite. <br /> ADDITIONAL INFORMATION <br /> Over the course of several months, three EDMS were reviewed by City staff, with Laserfiche <br /> proving to be the most suitable choice for Sunny Isles Beach. Laserfiche had the most <br /> sophisticated means of controlling access and security, the most streamlined and accurate <br /> method of indexing and searching documents, and the most user-friendly interface as compared <br /> 1 ancmene Document Imaging.Agenda Memo <br />
