Grandinetti, Police Captain <br /> <br />May 18, 2006 <br /> <br />Approval to Purchase an automated Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Records <br />Management and Mobile Data Software System from Sunguard-HTE, Inc. for <br />$505,805.61 <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution approving the <br />purchase of police application software and related services from Sungard HTE, Inc. for a <br />Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Records Management (RMS) and a Mobile Data System <br />package for the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department. <br /> <br />REASONS <br /> <br />The Sunny Isles Beach Police Department is in need of an automated Computer Aided Dispatch <br />(CAD), Records Management (RMS) and a Mobile Data System package, in order to serve the <br />needs of the community more effectively. An automated System can also assist in providing <br />greater efficiency and speed in responding to calls for service, as well as minimizing data <br />handling and increasing officer productivity. It provides up-to-date information for management <br />control, which is critical in emergency situation, through the retrieval of data from local, state, <br />and national databases. <br /> <br />Staff began researching this product and found that the City of Texas City, Texas had already <br />issued an RFP (#2006-120) and recently awarded the bid for an automated computer system to <br />Sunguard HTE, Inc. Staff has contacted Sunguard HTE, Inc. and they have agreed to allow the <br />City of Sunny Isles Beach to piggyback the agreement with the City of Texas City, Texas. <br />Sunguard has submitted a Purchase Agreement for a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Records <br />Management (RMS) and Mobile Data Software System (attached hereto as Exhibit "A"), in a <br />total amount of Five Hundred Five Thousand Eight Hundred Five Dollars and Sixty-One Cents <br />($505,805.61) to be paid for with accrued federal forfeiture funds. <br /> <br />Agenda Item <br /> <br />051806 Sunguard-Ossi Police Commun Softward Agenda Memo <br /> <br />Date <br />
