John Szerlag, City Manager <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />Jorge Vera, Assistant City Manager <br />Rick Conner, Director of Public Works <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />March 20, 2008 <br /> <br />REGARDING: <br /> <br />Approval of Award of 174th Street Tree Restoration Project to <br />Lukes-Sawgrass Landscaping, in an amount not to exceed <br />$94,167.04. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />We recommend that the City Commission authorize the staff to enter in to a contract with Lukes- <br />Sawgrass Landscaping to place trees in the 174th Street Median in an amount not to exceed <br />$94,167.04. <br /> <br />REASONS <br /> <br />The City Commission, during the most recent budget sessions, directed the staff to replace the <br />median trees that were damaged or destroyed during hurricane Wilma on 174th Street. To that <br />end, the Commission placed $250,000 in the capital budget for this purpose. We have received a <br />quote from Lukes-Sawgrass Landscaping and much of it follows the bid items on the contract <br />awarded to them at the February Commission Meeting. However, because this project is not part <br />of the work that was anticipated in that contract, we felt it best to ask the Commission for specific <br />approval. <br /> <br />ADDITIONAL INFORMATION <br /> <br />We did a preliminary plan of which this is part. <br />We will not have to acquire any easements. <br />The total cost of the project is estimated to be less than $100,000. <br />There will be an annual operation and maintenance costs, which is not budgeted. <br />The expected time for completion of the project is Summer of 2008. <br />Funding is currently available in the 174th Street Median Capital Account 20-600-5660. <br /> <br />Finance Department <br /> <br /> <br />Agenda Item No,: <br /> <br />(0 L <br />3,2(),6~ <br /> <br /> <br />Approval: <br /> <br />Funding available: <br /> <br />Commission Meeting Date: <br /> <br />Cover Memo Addendum to Lukes for 174 Street Median <br />
