John Szerlag, City Manager <br /> <br />Susan Simpson, Cultural and Human Services Director <br /> <br />February 21, 2008 <br /> <br />AGREEMENT WITH OFFSHORE SUPER SERIES FOR THE <br />PRODUCTION OF AN OFFSHORE POWERBOAT RACE IN AN <br />AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $125,000 <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />It is recommended that the City Commission consider an agreement with Offshore Super Series <br />Powerboat Racing Association (OSS) to produce an offshore powerboat race in Sunny Isles <br />Beach on June 21 st and 22nd, 2008 in an amount not to exceed One Hundred Twenty Five <br />Thousand Dollars, ($125,000). <br /> <br />REASONS: <br /> <br />The City Manager and I are in the process of negotiating an agreement with OSS to hold a <br />powerboat race off the shores of Sunny Isles Beach. In the event an agreement cannot be signed <br />by this meeting, the item will be pulled until all matters are agreed upon. <br /> <br />Staff will make a good will effort to secure funding for this project through sponsorships, of <br />which at least $45,000 has been secured to date, both in-kind and cash. Another $30,000 from <br />the Special Events account that was allocated for fireworks will be used for this project.
