John Szerlag, City Manager <br /> <br />Doug Haag, Assistant City Manager <br />Edel Fonseca, Information Technology Director <br />Kristy Fritts, GIS Coordinator <br /> <br />November 18, 2008 <br /> <br />Agreement with Calvin Giordano & Associates to Provide Enhancements to <br />Public Internet Mapping Service <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution approving an <br />agreement with Calvin Giordano & Associates to provide application development and web <br />hosting services. <br /> <br />REASONS: <br />We are seeking approval to implement Phase I of the City's proposed mapping services. Phases <br />II and III (internal staff mapping service) are anticipated to initiate in the upcoming fiscal year. <br />Phase I includes deployment of the City's public mapping service, via our website. <br /> <br />The City previously had a custom-built public internet mapping application developed by Calvin, <br />Giordano & Associates (CGA). The service was temporarily discontinued in 2006. A huge cost <br />savings for the City can be achieved by contracting CGA to enhance and re-launch the existing <br />site, which is still housed on their server. All requested enhancements have been provided to <br />CGA, and they have delivered a proposal and costs for application development in the amount of <br />Ten Thousand Three Hundred Eleven Dollars ($10,3 I 1.00), and a monthly hosting cost of Six <br />Hundred Fifty-Six Dollars and Twenty-Seven Cents ($656.27). <br /> <br />This type of service is provided by most municipalities in South Florida, and greatly benefits <br />both residents and visitors in that it enables access to important and useful information.
