RESOLUTION NO. 2016- 2-1 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY <br /> OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING CHANGE <br /> ORDER NUMBER TWELVE (12) TO THE AGREEMENT WITH <br /> FLORIDA ENGINEERING AND DEVELOPMENT <br /> CORPORATION, FOR PROFESSIONAL CONSTRUCTION <br /> SERVICES FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE 174 STREET <br /> ROADWAY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT, EXTENDING THE <br /> AGREEMENT EXPIRATION DATE, ATTACHED HERETO AS <br /> EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO <br /> ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS <br /> RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> WHEREAS, on April 16, 2015 vita Resolution No. 2015-2401 the City Commission <br /> awarded Bid No. 14-11-01 to and entered into an Agreement with Florida Engineering and <br /> Development Corporation for Professional Construction Services for the construction of the <br /> 174th Street Roadway Improvements Project, in an amount not to exceed Two Million Nine <br /> Hundred Sixty-Five Thousand Seven Hundred Fifty Dollars and Twenty Cents ($2,965,750.20); <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, on October 15, 2015 via Resolution No. 2015-2473 the City Commission <br /> approved Change Order No. 2 to the Agreement with Florida Engineering and Development <br /> Corporation, in an amount not to exceed Two Hundred Eight Thousand Five Hundred Thirty- <br /> Seven Dollars and Fourteen Cents ($208,537.14), and Change Order No. 3 for additional <br /> Professional Construction Services for the 174th Street Roadway Improvements Project, in an <br /> amount not to exceed One Hundred Fifty-Eight Thousand Four Hundred Ninety-One Dollars and <br /> Forty-One Cents ($158,491.41), for a total amount not to exceed Three Hundred Sixty-Seven <br /> Thousand Twenty-Eight Dollars and Fifty-Five Cents ($367,028.55), bringing the total contract <br /> not to exceed amount to Three Million Three Hundred Thirty-Two Thousand Seven Hundred <br /> Seventy-Eight Dollars and Seventy-Five Cents ($3,332,778.75); and <br /> WHEREAS, the original design and scope contemplated the construction of five-foot <br /> sidewalks and the addition of bicycle lanes using the existing one-foot grass strip which is <br /> currently embedded in the sidewalk, although the bike lane striping was eliminated via Change <br /> Order No. 4, the overall pavement width was maintained in order to retain the flexibility to add <br /> the bike lanes in the future, and Change Order No. 5 for temporary lighting due to FPL meter <br /> outage; and <br /> WHEREAS, it was deemed more favorable for the City and its residents to forgo the <br /> concepts of bike lanes all together, in lieu of wider seven-foot sidewalks through the entire <br /> corridor; and <br /> WHEREAS, on February 18, 2016 via Resolution No. 2016-2524 the City Commission <br /> approved Change Order No. 6 to the Agreement with Florida Engineering and Development <br /> Corporation, for additional sidewalk and curb repair/construction done to the 174th Street <br /> corridor to construct this expanded scope along the full length of 174th Street corridor within the <br /> Phase I limits which was previously completed, in an amount not to exceed Two Hundred Forty- <br /> R2016-Fla Engineering CO 12 to Agmt 174 St Construction Srvs.doc Page 1 of 3 <br />
