<br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />SECTION 01030 <br /> <br />SPECIAL PROJECT PROCEDURES <br /> <br />PART 1 - GENERAL <br /> <br />1.01 OBSTRUCTIONS <br /> <br />A. The attention of the Contractor is drawn to the fact that during digging at the <br />Project site, the possibility exists of the Contractor encountering various <br />water, sewer, petroleum, gas, telephone, electrical or other lines not shown <br />on the Drawings. The Contractor shall exercise extreme care before and <br />during digging to locate and flag these lines so as to avoid damage to the <br />existing lines. Should damage occur to an existing line, The Contractor <br />shall repair the line at the no cost to the Owner, except as outlined under <br />paragraph 4.3.2 of Section 00700 - General Conditions. <br /> <br />1.02 PROVISIONS FOR THE CONTROL OF DUST <br /> <br />A. Sufficient precautions shall be taken. during construction to minimize the <br />amount of dust created. Wetting down the site may be required or as <br />directed by the Engineer to prevent dust as a result of vehicular traffic. <br /> <br />1.03 SALVAGE <br /> <br />A. Any existing equipment or material, including but not limited to, valves, <br />pipes, fittings, couplings, etc., which is removed or replaced as a result of <br />construction under this project may be designated as salvage by the <br />Engineer or Owner and if so shall be excavated, if necessary, and delivered <br />to the Owner by a location directed by the Owner. Any equipment or <br />material not worthy of salvaging, as directed by the Owner, shall be <br />disposed of by the Contractor at a suitable location. <br /> <br />1.04 MAINTENANCE OF EXISTING WATER AND WASTEWATER FACILITIES <br />OPERATION <br /> <br />A. The Contractor shall take notice that existing water and wastewater facilities <br />are operated in the construction area. It is the responsibility of the <br />Contractor to contact the Owner's utility operator and ascertain the extent of <br />any specific service area. <br /> <br />B. <br /> <br />The Contractor shall fully cooperate at all times with the Owner in order to <br />maintain the operation of the existing facilities with the least amount of <br />interference and interruption possible. Continuous service, public health <br />and safety considerations shall exceed all others and the Contractor's <br />schedule, plans and work shall at all times be subject to alteration and <br />revision if necessary for above considerations. <br />01030-1 06-5723 <br /> <br />04/08 <br />
