BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT AND RELEVANCE TO THIS CONTRACT (Include scope, size, and cost) <br /> <br />. <br /> <br /> <br />The City of Sunny Isles Beach was experiencing drainage problems with <br />the recently completed storm drainage pumping system built in the Golden <br />Shores neighborhood. The objective of this project was to identify and <br />quantify alternative methods to remedy the current problems: Drainage <br />evaluation, final design and technical construction assistance to the City <br />were included in this project: The project encompassed four phases of <br />development. BHA provided consulting engineering services for all phases <br />listed below: <br />Phase I: Flood control study and evaluation of the existing storm sewer <br />system and pumping <br />station. Completed on <br />January 2001. <br />Phase II: Photogrammetric and planimetric mapping of this 80 acre site, pavement condition <br />survey, plan production for the reconstruction of the storm sewer system, street widening and <br />signalization. This phase also included the electro-mechanical refurbishment of the pumping <br />station and new flood control staging. Storm sewer rehabilitation using epoxy resins and <br />polyester liner was utilized. The 9,100 linear feet of storm sewer "cured in place piping" (CIPP) <br />rehabilitation process is considered the largest of its kind in the US and was published on the <br />July 2002 issue of the ''Trench less Technology" magazine. Drainage problem in one section <br />of this neighborhood was accomplished by using four (4) Storm Drainage Wells. <br />Phase III: Technical assistance to the City of Sunny Isles Beach for letting and bidding <br />process for the implementation of this 3.5 million construction cost project. Completed on <br />October 2001. <br />Phase IV: Consulting engineering services for the construction supervision (CEI) for the <br />construction of this project.
