Ms. Mitchell served as Landscape Architect for the streetscape portion of the project.

Streetscape design concepts complemented the urban design standards prepared for the Community Redevelopment Agency as part of
this corridor revitalization scheme. This project included an intensive public involvement process in which the design of a pedestrian
friendly street reflective of the neighborhood's community was a key element. The design concepts presented made creative proposals
for a "kit of parts" strategy for extending improvements into the private realm to enhance the streetscape concept. The strategy
identified appropriate materials, colors and patterns with enough flexibility to permit individual properties to implement project-specific
adaptations of the design that met the design requirements for each property in a manner that enhances the public improvements. The
design development of the concept involved detailed field verification and work with engineers to ensure constructability. Preparation of
construction documents was completed in 2005 and the project is currently moving forward with the approved palette of design materials
adapted to changes in jurisdiction and traffic engineering requirements.

Size: 20 Blocks

"- - -L]IJD' T"'" " -'-"
_......:.. ~' ~-- i_ C 1_,~ -- - i- L ......:
~, ..
