<br />C. Dr. Miralles served as project manager for the design of the water and wastewater systems of the Guarapiranga reservoir near
<br /> Sao Paolo, Brazil. This contaminated reservoir served as a water supply source for a significant fraction of the city's
<br /> population. The project involved the conception and implementation of reservoir management strategies to enhance the water
<br /> quantity and quality aspects of the water supply system. This project was financed by the World Bank.

<br />d. In Barcelona, Spain, Dr. Miralles served as the project engineer in charge of developing a strategy for the reclamation of the
<br /> Llobregat River. In addition to decreasing surface water levels and increasing pollution, the project was geared at maintaining
<br /> an ecological flow of water in the river by using a tertiary treatment effluent, and its recirculation using an artificial wetland,
<br /> as opposed to the current discharge into the Mediterranean Sea.
