The contract documents called for careful exploration dt <br />excavation so as not to disrupt vital utilities to surrounding business operations. Tr <br />maintenance and control were critical as the work involved impact to Sunset Dri' <br />major arterial. <br /> <br />Provisions had to be made to include drainage capability for an existing adjacent <br />which had previously been utilizing the project site for its storm water runoff. Sincl <br />whole site is subject to heavy pedestrian volumes, drainage was very critical as any IT <br />ponding would result in a great inconvenience to users of the Metro Rail Station facil <br /> <br />Demolition of the existing site was also complex in that the existing drainage had t <br />removed while still accommodating the runoff from the adjacent facilities. Since th~ <br />was limited additional provisions had to be made for earthwork and fill stockpiling ~ <br />not to impact public right-of-way. <br /> <br />Page 3 <br />
