BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT AND RELEVANCE
TO THIS CONTRACT (Include scope. size. and cost)

Tamiami Park is a 242-acre District Park
located at 11201 SW 24th Street. Park
boundaries are Florida International
University to the north and the Dade County
Fair to the east. It is located at the
intersections of SW 117th Avenue and SW
24th Streets, two major County roads, and is
also fronted by a canal. The site is anchored
in a matrix of commercial, civic and
residential uses. This District Park contains
a full range of athletic fields and courts as
well as an aquatic complex and also hosts
parking for the Fair at peak times. Entrances
to the park along SW 24th Street (Coral
Way) are illegible and undistinguished in
character with numerous vehicular and
pedestrian circulation conflicts.

b. This goal is to be accomplished through the design of beautiful, well-balanced pedestrian and vehicular entrances.
The entrances will link the park to the surrounding community and offer a green contrast to the built environment.

Issues to be resolved and goals to be met during the design process are:

. Resolve isolation of the park from the neighboring community by the scale of the adjacent roads;
. Provide safe pedestrian and bicycle connections into the park;
. Develop solutions to improve vehicular access and circulation for park and Fair patrons;
. Explore and develop opportunities to incorporate the canal edge into the park entrance visually and/or functionally;
. Explore and develop opportunities to incorporate edge conditions within the park visually and/or functionally to the arrivals; and,
. Explore and develop opportunities to improve quality and quantity of tree canopy that defines the parks edges.

25.
