Barnes Aquatic Center - Miami, FL PROFESSIONAL SERVICES I CONSTRUCTION (If applicable)
2004-present current
(3) BRIEF DESCRIPTION (Brief scope, size, cost, etc.) AND SPECIFIC ROLE rg] Check if project performed with current firm
This aquatic center was designed for Miami-Dade Parks & Recreation as part of the Safe Neighborhood Parks
Program. The concept of the project was to provide an aquatic play center at the existing swimming pool in an
existing park in such a way to take economic advantage of existing facilities, and therefore minimize capital
cost of the project. Existing parking was determined to be adequate to serve the expanded facility. ADA
c. improvements to the existing bathhouse were made under the auspices of a separate project. Some minor
modifications were made to the bathhouse and existing decks to provide as accessible path to the new aquatic
facility. Where required by the Health Department, plumbing fixtures were added to meet current code fixture
count requirements. The existing bathhouse was used as the point of control for both the existing pool facilities
as well as the new aquatic play facility. Aquatic filtration equipment was placed on grade to minimize costs.
Large umbrellas were included on the multi-colored deck to provide areas of shade for supervising parents.
Interactive water play structures can be used safely by small children on the spray deck that will not retain
water.

STANDARD FORM 330 (1/2004) PAGE 2
