The
MDT A will advise the Miami Dade EOC of the approximate times the buses will arrive and depart
the designated evacuation pick up points. The Transit Agency will also monitor the situation to
insure that an adequate number of buses are in service to transport citizens to designated and
alternate shdters. The MDTA will communicate with the appropriate law enforcement agencies to
make sure that no one is left waiting for a bus.

-

IIiIII

-

..

..

The Miami Dade County Public Works will lock down all drawbridges approximately eight hours
before the arrival of the storm. The Department of Public Works and the Florida Department of
Transportation will lift all tolls once the actual eva<..-uation order is given.

-

..

Sunny Isles Beach is fortunate to have two high capacity east-west causeways that will be used in the
future for evacuation to the mainland.

..

..

..

Traffic Control Points

..

The Evacuation Implementation Zones identify the traffic control points to be handled by the
various law enforcement agencies. They have been established to expedite the evacuation of the
population to~ard major north and westbound evacuation routes as described above. The actual
assignment of these points, on a priority basis, will be implemented at the time of the evacuation.

..

-

..

...

Bridge Oi*ning/Lock Down

..

..

The procedur~ regarding the scheduling of bridge openings over the Intracoastal Waterway are
defllled in a Memorandum of Understanding between Miami Dade County Emergency
Management,_Miami Dade County Public Works, Florida Department of Transportation, and the
U.S. Coast Guard. The procedures are expected to be followed by Sunny Isles Beach and will not
change in the, future unless citan.ged by one of the non-Sunny Isles Beach noted entities.

...

-

..

..

The current three main shelters for Sunny Isles Beach are expected to continue to be the main
shelters in the future. These are:

..

-

. North Miami High School @ 800 WE 13]lh Street,
. North Miami Middle School @ 13105 NE ]lh Avenue, and
. North Miami Beach Sr. High School @ 1247 NE 16]lh Street.

..

...

..

BllS pick-up points to transportation to these shelters are expected to remain in place in the fUture.
Consideration of an additional pick-up point north of 18T Street is a matter of local resident
concern.

...

..

-

Post- Disaster Redevelopment

..

..

It is likely that any major storm damage would center upon the coastal high hazard area.
