~

-

iJi!~

In accordance with Rule 9J-5.013(1)(b) this section of the plan details the sources of pollution
which may affect the City's existing natural resources.

'...

..

The sources of pollution may include both point and non-point sources. The 1995 update to the
County's Comprehensive Plan did not identify any sources of air or water pollution within the City.
The County continues to meet or exceed all federally mandated minimum air quality standards.
Other than stormwater discharge, the County has not identified any sources of groundwater
pollution within the City.

-

-

-

..

Water Needs

-

..

In accordance with Rule 9J-5.013(1)(c) this section provides an analysis of the City's existing and
future water needs.

-

..

As previously defIned, The City of Sunny Isles Beach receives water through North Miami Beach's
Norwood Water Plant. The plant has a capacity of twenty -eight (28) million gallons per day. This
capacity meets the existing demand.

-

-

-

No major increases in water demand are anticipated. Increased usage, on a smaller scale, will be the
result of the redevdopment taking place along Collins Avenue. A 1998 study predicts increased
water usage in the range of 0.6 to 1.0 million gallons per day. This increase can be accommodated
by the existing system. Additionally, the City of North Miami Beach is actively considering an
expansion of its system to 40 million gallons per day.

..

-

-

..

..

..

..

-

-

-

-

-

-

-

-

-

..

..

-

-

-

Sunny Isles Comprehensive Plan - Existing Condilions I Background Documents

34

-
