<br />Summary Minutes: Regular City Commission Meeting February 19, 2009 <br /> <br />City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida <br /> <br />Mayor Ede1cup asked about the timetable and Acting City Manager Conner said it will be <br />completed before the POW WOW event in May, Mayor Edelcup said in addition to this, the <br />Commission wanted to do something special for Richard Schulman to celebrate his 75th <br />Birthday and to honor him as our City Historian. He said History Hall is the most popular <br />site in our City and known throughout the world, and as a surprise to Richard, had asked staff <br />to also remodel the "Richard C. Schulman History Hall" at the same time, and Acting City <br />Manager Conner showed a conceptual design of the Hall. <br /> <br />Commissioner Brezin moved and Vice Mayor Thaler seconded a motion to approve the <br />resolution. Resolution No. 2009-1391 was adopted by a voice vote of 5-0 in favor. <br /> <br />10Q. Add-On: <br />A Resolution ofthe City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, Authorizing <br />Payment to Atlantic Broadband for Undergrounding Cable Television Lines Along <br />172nd Street, in an Amount Not to Exceed $21,110,66; Authorizing the City Manager to Do <br />All Things Necessary to Effectuate this Resolution; Providing for an Effective Date. <br /> <br />Action: [City Clerk's Note: See action under Item 4A, adding this item to the agenda.) City <br />Clerk Hines read the title, and Assistant City Manager Vera reported this is the last of the <br />undergrounding on 172nd Street, FP&L and AT&T are already underground, <br /> <br />Public Speakers: none <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Thaler asked if this was known before the project went out, and Mr. Vera said <br />yes, we already laid the conduits, etc, for the undergrounding, but Atlantic Broadband just <br />came to us this month with their quote, <br /> <br />Commissioner Scholl moved and Vice Mayor Thaler seconded a motion to approve the <br />resolution. Resolution No. 2009-1392 was adopted by a voice vote of 5-0 in favor. <br /> <br />11. MOTIONS <br /> <br />11A. Call for a Motion to Confirm the Appointment of Janet Cini to Fill a Vacancy on the <br />Historic Preservation Board (Vice Mayor Thaler), <br /> <br />Action: City Clerk Hines read the title, and Vice Mayor Thaler reported, <br /> <br />Commissioner Brezin moved and Commissioner Scholl seconded a motion to confirm the <br />appointment. The motion was approved by a voice vote of 5-0 in favor. <br /> <br />12. DISCUSSION ITEMS <br /> <br />12A. Discussion/Presentation of a Beach Safety Video Played on the Hotels' Television Welcome <br />Page Channel regarding Sunny Isles Beach Ocean Rescue, <br /> <br />Action: Cultural and Human Services Director Susan Simpson and Ocean Rescue Supervisor <br />Justin Broman presented the Video which is being shown here and outside the City in certain <br />hotels, It was the consensus of the Commission to play it on the City's CATV Channel 77, <br /> <br />Public Speakers: none <br /> <br />10 <br />
