Summary Minutes: Regular City Commission Meeting February 19, 2009 <br /> <br />City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida <br /> <br />Public Speakers: none <br /> <br />Commissioner Scholl said the top of the cupolas are not commensurate with the quality of <br />the open part of the structure however it is in the early stage, and Acting City Manager <br />Conner said that staff will ensure that they are, <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Thaler moved and Commissioner Goodman seconded a motion to approve the <br />resolution. Resolution No. 2009-1389 was adopted by a voice vote of 5-0 in favor. <br /> <br />100. A Resolution of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, Approving <br />the Selection of AvMed as the Provider for Employee Health Insurance, Lincoln <br />Financial Group as the City's Provider for Dental Insurance, Life Insurance, <br />Accidental, Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance and Long Term Disability <br />Insurance, and EyeMed as the City's Provider for Vision Care for a One- Year Period; <br />Authorizing the City Manager to Enter into Agreements with these Providers, Provided Said <br />Agreements are Approved as to Form and Legal Sufficiency by the City Attorney; Further <br />Authorizing the City Manager to Do All Things Necessary to Effectuate this Resolution; <br />Providing for an Effective Date, <br /> <br />Action: City Clerk Hines read the title, and Assistant City Manager Doug Haag reported <br />noting that by switching carriers at this time, the net analyzed savings to the City is <br />approximately $500,000, due to the employees taking on additional cost sharing through <br />higher deductibles, co-pay, etc. He thanked Benefits Administrator Yael London for a great <br />job, and is currently in the 1 st Floor Meeting Room conducting the initial enrollment <br />information session with City employees, <br /> <br />Public Speakers: Bob Hollander <br /> <br />Mayor Edelcup asked if the new plan has similar benefits as you had mentioned that the <br />employees are going to be taking on more risk, is that a major or minor situation, and Bob <br />Hollander of Brown and Brown, said the changes were minor. He said they went through it <br />thoroughly with the City's committee, and the employees are happy with it <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Thaler moved and Commissioner Goodman seconded a motion to approve the <br />resolution. A Resolution of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, Approving <br />in Concept the Renovation of the First Floor of the Government Center; Providing for a <br />Total Project Budget in the Amount of $75,000,00; Providing that Any Agreements be <br />Approved as to Form and Legal Sufficiency by the City Attorney; Authorizing the City <br />Manager to Do All Things Necessary to Effectuate this Resolution; Providing for an <br />Effective Date, <br /> <br />Action: City Clerk Hines read the title, and Acting City Manager Conner reported, and <br />showed a power-point of a conceptual design of the first floor.
