He said it is "in" to look into our roots and ancestry, and for the last 20 years the
Academy in Israel took to task this phenomenon that occurred. It started with the Inquisition
in the 15th Century wherein much of the population who practiced Judaism had a choice to
either convert to Catholicism or be expelled, and many of them were expelled to Latin
America. Today there are about 55 Million people within the United States from Latin
ancestry both Christian and Jewish ancestry, and the Mission Statement of the College is to
enrich the fabric of these people and be able to promote cultural and heritage within this
community. Mayor Scholl noted that we just hosted a conference across the street at the
Trump via Netanya Academic College, and the former Secretary of Housing was there,
Henry Cisneros, and it was a very interesting conference. Commissioner Aelion added that
our Mayor was honored at the conference.
Public Speakers: None
Vice Mayor Gatto moved and Commissioner Goldman seconded a motion to approve the
resolution. Resolution No. 2016-2608 was adopted by a voice vote of 5-0 in favor.
22
