Our firm has recently served as the DCP (Design Criteria Professional) for the $5 million Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Logistics Facility. Fraga Engineers was responsible for investigating and creating the MEP portion of a Design Criteria Package, and functioning as an Owner's Representative during the bidding, award, design, and construction process for this 65,000 gsf Fire Rescue and Logistics facility which includes an Emergency Management Operations Center for Miami-Dade County Emergency Operations, completed in 2008. Fraga Engineers is also the Engineer of Record for the installation of an 1865 kW generator at the Alexander Orr Water Treatment Plant in Miami, Florida. This project involves a complete upgrade of the water treatment system for Miami, and when completed will have one of the largest backup generators in South Florida. Design/Build Bid Process Fraga Engineers has experience in Design/Build projects from both sides of the equation. Our firm has recently served as the DCP (Design Criteria Professional) for the $5 million Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Logistics Facility. Fraga Engineers was responsible for investigating and creating the MEP portion of a Design Criteria Package, and functioning as an Owner's Representative during the bidding, award, design, and construction process for this 65,000 gsf Fire Rescue and Logistics facility with an Emergency Management Operations Center, completed in 2008. A Continuing Services Contract with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department also led to Fraga Engineers serving on the DCP team for five new approximately 4,300 gsf Fire Rescue Stations. Each station was approximately $800,000, with our firm responsible for creating the MEP portion of a Design Criteria Package, and functioning as an Owner's Representative during the bidding, award, design, and construction process. All of these projects were turned in on time and in budget. Fraga Engineers is also experienced as a Design/Builder. Working with Betancourt, Castellon, Associates, Fraga Engineers has completed over $60 million worth of facilities for M-DCPS since 2005, including a new middle school (State School SS-1) and a new high school (State School FFF), both state of the art facilities, and again, both turned in on-time and in budget. Having experience on both sides of the Design/Build table allows Fraga Engineers to understand the pitfalls and possible problems that arise from miscommunication and unclear documents. It also allows us to understand the advantages that come from such an arrangement, including faster project turnaround. Our firm knows what the critical issues are in a Design Criteria and will ensure that, should the City of Sunny Isles Beach choose Design/Build as a project delivery method, it is provided with an airtight Design Criteria that will allow for smooth project delivery with good quality design, in budget, and no change orders. Our project team has a wealth of the latest information on pricing for the latest systems, and works hard to update this data regularly via regular conversations with subcontractors and contractors, allowing us to keep an accurate picture of the market. This allows our project team to put together a confident and accurate cost estimate package for all of our projects.
