BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT AND RELEVANCE TO THIS CONTRACT (Include scoPe, size, and cost) <br /> <br /> <br />Keith and Schnars is currently designing improvements to areas both within and around the University of Miami's main campus in <br />Coral Gables. Within the University, we are redesigning 18 on-campus parking lots and improving each lot's lighting, pedestrian <br />connectivity, and landscaping. We are also providing designs for the University's internal roadway. These designs will be <br />implemented in 6 phases, thus allowing construction to take place during times of lower campus activity. Stakeholder discussions <br />have already been held and the conceptual/schematic design for the internal roadway is currently nearing completion. Additionally, <br />we are also designing a new bridge/culvert (that will continue the internal roadway over a tidal canal) and a signature entryway <br />into campus, which will result in an expanded intersection and new signalization. <br /> <br />External to the University, we are involved in 5 projects requiring plans packages and permitting, The projects will result in the <br />expanded capacity of local roadways, which are within FDOT and/or Miami-Dade County right of way. The construction costs <br />associated with each project will not exceed $1 million dollars. To date, each project's design has involved extensive public <br />outreach, also negotiations with city, county, and state officials, Additionally, each project's design has had to take into <br />consideration factors such as the businesses that service the University, shuttle bus routes on campus, the University's landscaping <br />preferences, pedestrian/bicycle accommodation, delivery truck routes, and the requirements of each of the departments along the <br />route of the new roadway system.
