The bridge consists of two equal spans of 60' -0" for a total bridge length of 120'-0". The substructures <br /> consists of pile bents with 24" prestressed concrete piles. Responsibilities also included approximately 3600' of wrap <br /> around MSE wall at the bridge approaches. Design Engineer for replacement of an existing prestressed slab unit bridge over the Miami Canal with a new continuous <br /> three span flat slab. The new bridge has three equal spans of 36'-0" (overall length 108'-0") and provides for five lanes of <br /> traffic. The bridge is in a heavily industrialized area and the Miami Canal runs immediately adjacent to Okeechobee Road <br /> (SR 25). The design included curved returns for heavy truck movements and superelevation transitions at the connection <br /> with Okeechobee Road. The <br /> bridge carried the Turnpike Mainline over the NW 74th Street Canal and the widening was part of the improvements for a <br /> new interchange along the HEFT. Design Engineer for the replacement of an existing bridge over the Little River Canal. New bridge is a continuous three span <br /> flat slab superstructure with an overall length of 84'-0" and equal spans of 28'-0". The bridge was flanked on both sides by <br /> private property which required closely matching the existing profile, a shallow depth structure, retaining walls along the <br /> Little River Canal, and driveway connections on the approach slabs. Proposed intermediate bents were aligned with the <br /> existing supports of adjacent utilities (force mains) at the direction of SFWMD.
