Metals
inspections, including welded and bolted connections, were
provided for structural steel 6th floor, and structural

members of the glass curtain wall system.

Project Description: This 6-story plus basement, 336,000 sf courthouse in downtown Orlando is founded
on auger pressure grout displacement pilings and pile caps due to the high column loads generated by the
long spans required by the 16 courtroom spaces and heavy I ive loads. Constructed to GSA blast resistive
design standards, the building utilizes a cast in place concrete structure, reinforced masonry walls, and a
glass curtainwall around a 4-story lobby. An underground tunnel provides safe passage between the
existing courthouse and this new facility. Three story structured parking is also provided. The structure
took approximately one year to top out. This $83 million project was completed in 2007.

OCEAN CENTER EXPANSION

Client: County of Vol usia
Contractor: O.C.O.R.P./A.M Weigel Construction
Contact: Mr. Doug Cooper, (386) 252-5353; 699
Earl St. Daytona Beach, FL 32114

- -= !!:::

Services Rendered: Construction materials testing
and threshold inspection services, including
inspection of structural steel welded and bolted
connections and testing of sprayed-on fire resistive
materials.

Project Description: This is a 168,000 s.f. building expansion of the existing Ocean Center located in
Daytona Beach. Associated site improvements, utilities, road infrastructure and parking are also
included, Approximately 200 auger cast piles and pile caps support high column load areas along
opposing perimeter walls of the Exhibition Hall and shallow foundations support other areas of the
structure. The building is constructed of cast-in-place reinforced concrete including concrete columns,
post-tensioned elevated concrete slabs, reinforced concrete and structural masonry walls and varying
arrangements of open-web steel joists and steel girders supporting a corrugated metal roof deck and roof
system. Exterior walls consist of tilt wall concrete panels welded to the steel structure. The main
Exhibition Hall dimensions are 327' x 295' by 57' high which results in the use of 300 foot long open-
web steel trusses. Completion is scheduled for January 2009.

ItlOARSE

, ASS 0 C I R T E S, INC.

BUILD or'~ OUR EXPERIENCE
