Welded and bolted connections for
structural steel were also inspected.

I

I

Project Description: This is a 34-story, 1.2 million sf, mixed-use high-rise structure in downtown
Orlando contains 405 condominiums, approximately 52,000 sf of retail space and parking for 1,072 cars
in an attached II-story parking garage. Founded on 1100 auger pressure grout displacement piles and
pile caps, the structure is comprised of reinforced concrete columns and post tensioned elevated concrete
slabs. Precast exterior wall panels are utilized. The signature building "cap" is constructed of structural
steel and metal roof deck. Due to the urban nature of the job site, sheet piling was utilized to allow site
excavation, dewatering was required, underpinning of very old adjacent structures was utilized and due to
an expedited construction schedule, two testing and threshold inspection crews were utilized to observe
construction during normal daylight hours as well as after hour concrete pours. This project was complete
in 2008.

I

I

I

I

THE VUE AT LAKE EOLA

I

Project Description: This project, known as Orlando's tallest
residential structure, consists of a 35-story, 384-unit condominium
and 7-story parking garage on a 1.74 acre site overlooking Lake
Eola. Construction cost is estimated at $100 million. The
structure is founded on approximately 820 auger pressure grout displacement piles and pile caps. To
expedite the construction schedule, the contractor utilized a tunnel form system to turn an entire floor
every five days. Due to City requirements, concrete placement operations had to occur in the evenings to
maintain traffic through the area. To assist the contractor in making up delays at the beginning of the
project, two testing and threshold inspection crews were utilized, Test results from concrete cylinders the
night before were provided early the following morning so the forms could be moved at the earliest
possible time. This project was complete in 2007.

Client: Liberty Place Orlando, LLC/Churchill Development
Contractor: Turner Construction Company
Contact: Mr. Dave Riley, (407) 841-7984; 200 E.
