.
.
.

Threshold Inspection Experience for Parking Garages

City of Miami - Oak and Mary Parking Garage
Oak Avenue Parking Plaza, a City of Miami owned and operated 404-car
parking facility, was designed to harmonize with the unique characteristics that
make Coconut Grove charming and special to South Floridians. The facility has
approximately 16,730 square foot of retail shops at ground level.

~
.

I

.
.

Miami-Dade College - Kendall Campus Parking Garage
The Parking Garage for the Center for the Humanities accommodates 750-
cars in five levels, 15,000 square feet of ground level office space and a
central utilities plant supporting the entire campus. The garage constitutes
Phase I of a two phase Center for the Humanities. The parking garage
utilizes a precast concrete structural system and skin.

It is the first parking garage on the Kendall Campus. The Center for the
Humanities Garage was sited to accommodate parking for the existing
adjacent gymnasium and an athletic center. The facility was also designed
to accommodate parking for a future 600-seat Kendall Community Theater
in addition to the Center for the Humanities.

Westland Hialeah Senior High School

In order to accommodate the anticipated 2000+ student enrollment on
a constricted 6.5 acre urban site in Hialeah, the footprint of the building
program for Hialeah Westland High School was compacted to the
maximum extent possible and involved the creative use of the site.

AECOM's design for the building incorporates four Academic units, a
Media Center, an Administration area, and a Cafeteria, all of which form
a four-story bar building facing the most prominent street. The large
entry void in the center of the bar connects this street with the central
courtyard of the building, around which are arrayed all the major public
programmatic pieces. The one-story Art and Music classrooms form a
more intimate dining courtyard with the adjacent cafeteria.

t n Ie C,

50

r..

..
.. ..

Given the lack of available real estate, a Parking Deck was also a significant component of the building program. As part of a
creative site design solution, the top deck above the parking structure provides the space for the Physical Education component of
the program, which includes gymnasium, locker rooms, and basketball courts.
