She has 11 years of extensive structural engineering experience <br />primarily involving structural design and construction management. Prior to <br />joining PBS&J, Ms. Cabrera was president of her own company; a building plan <br />reviewer for the Miami-Dade County Building Department, where she was <br />responsible for the review of compliance with building code standards for large <br />and small projects specific to the structural discipline as well as meeting with <br />design professionals to discuss and request changes to documents for safety and <br />compliance with building code standards; a construction manager for the Miami- <br />Dade County General Services Administration/Construction Management and <br />Renovation Services (GSA/CMRS), where she was responsible for construction <br />management of large- and small-scale projects including contract negotiations, <br />plans review, invoice processing, inspections and site visits, change order <br />reviews, and contract administration, as well as structural design of general <br />obligation bond (GOB) projects including preparing calculations, construction <br />documents, and specifications; and as a structural engineer for a major <br />consulting engineering company in Miami, Florida. <br /> <br />Ms. Cabrera's current general responsibilities with PBS&J include: <br /> <br />. Manages south Florida structural division. <br />. Designs and develops plans and drawings, which may include the <br />development of preliminary layout and/or final drawings. <br />. Organizes and conducts engineering investigations and planning work, and <br />outlines and prepares reports or sections of reports. <br />. Provides engineering services during construction activities by reviewing <br />shop drawings for confonnance with specifications; prepares records and <br />progress reports defining construction progress; observes construction <br />procedures; and evaluates the results from quality control testing. <br />. Researches the feasibility of alternative design approaches, site conditions, <br />and regulatory agency specifications. <br />. Contributes to the development of specifications and pennit applications, <br />and writes miscellaneous reports. <br />. Prepares preliminary man hour, cost, and material quantity estimates. <br />. Participates in quality control checks, maintaining quality standards in all <br />work produced, checking computations, and/or reviewing designs and <br />drawings performed by others. <br /> <br />Her relevant project experience includes: <br /> <br />City of Sunny Isles Beach, Sunny Isles Beach, Florida. Structural engineer <br />responsible for assisting the senior engineer in the structural design for a new <br />45,OOO-square-foot government complex inclusive of city hall, commission <br />chambers, police facility, and a public library. <br /> <br />Energy Demonstration Fitness Center at Tyndall Air Force Base (AFB), <br />Tyndall AFB, Florida Panhandle. Senior structural engineer responsible for <br />quality control/quality assurance review for this project. The scope of work <br />involves providing full architectural services for this high-visibility showcase <br />energy/sustainable development project that will be used to highlight the Air <br />Force's success in the areas of energy and sustainable development. PBS&J is <br />working with Tyndall AFB and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), <br /> <br />PBSI. <br />
