She has 11 years of extensive structural engineering experience primarily involving structural design and construction management. Prior to joining PBS&J, Ms. Cabrera was president of her own company; a building plan reviewer for the Miami-Dade County Building Department, where she was responsible for the review of compliance with building code standards for large and small projects specific to the structural discipline as well as meeting with design professionals to discuss and request changes to documents for safety and compliance with building code standards; a construction manager for the Miami- Dade County General Services Administration/Construction Management and Renovation Services (GSA/CMRS), where she was responsible for construction management of large- and small-scale projects including contract negotiations, plans review, invoice processing, inspections and site visits, change order reviews, and contract administration, as well as structural design of general obligation bond (GOB) projects including preparing calculations, construction documents, and specifications; and as a structural engineer for a major consulting engineering company in Miami, Florida. Ms. Cabrera's current general responsibilities with PBS&J include: . Manages south Florida structural division. . Designs and develops plans and drawings, which may include the development of preliminary layout and/or final drawings. . Organizes and conducts engineering investigations and planning work, and outlines and prepares reports or sections of reports. . Provides engineering services during construction activities by reviewing shop drawings for confonnance with specifications; prepares records and progress reports defining construction progress; observes construction procedures; and evaluates the results from quality control testing. . Researches the feasibility of alternative design approaches, site conditions, and regulatory agency specifications. . Contributes to the development of specifications and pennit applications, and writes miscellaneous reports. . Prepares preliminary man hour, cost, and material quantity estimates. . Participates in quality control checks, maintaining quality standards in all work produced, checking computations, and/or reviewing designs and drawings performed by others. Her relevant project experience includes: City of Sunny Isles Beach, Sunny Isles Beach, Florida. Structural engineer responsible for assisting the senior engineer in the structural design for a new 45,OOO-square-foot government complex inclusive of city hall, commission chambers, police facility, and a public library. Energy Demonstration Fitness Center at Tyndall Air Force Base (AFB), Tyndall AFB, Florida Panhandle. Senior structural engineer responsible for quality control/quality assurance review for this project. The scope of work involves providing full architectural services for this high-visibility showcase energy/sustainable development project that will be used to highlight the Air Force's success in the areas of energy and sustainable development. PBS&J is working with Tyndall AFB and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), PBSI.
