Supported the
e\'aluation of the impact of FGD wastewater discharge
on the Susquehanna River in accordance with
Pennsykania \vater quality standards.

Prepared bid specification, conducted bid evaluation and
prepared purchase recommendation for FG D
wastewater system supplier.

Mountaineer FGD System. Developed the conceptual
design of water and wastewater systems to support the
retrofit of a wet limestone scrubber to the coal fired
power plant. Calculated stormwater runoff from FDG
system storage piles. r.lodified plant water balance to
incorporate water use and wastewater discharges from
FGO system. Prepared detailed study and cost estimate
of alternati\'e systems to provide water treatment to
produce makeup water of quality suitable to support
multiple FGD system \vater requirements. Developed
conceptual design and cost estimate for FGD
waste\vater treatment system. E\'aluated impact of FG D
waste\vater discharge on the Ohio River in accordance
with \,\'est Virginia water cluality standards.

Chesterfield FGD System. Denloping the conceptual
design of \vater and \vaste\vater systems to support the
retrofit of a wet limestone scrubber to the coal fired
power plant. E\'aluating water treatment systems to
produce makeup water of quality suitable to support
multiple FGO system water requirements. De\'eloping a
conceptual design and cost estimate for FG D
wastewater treatment system, consisting of two- stage
(hydroxide and sulfide) precipitation of heavy mctals and
biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) removal.

Harquahala Generating Station. Participated in the
startup of a zero liquid discharge system for this
combined cycle gas fired plant in Tonopah, Arizona.
The system includes clarificr/ softener, multimedia filter,
reverse osmOSIS, vapor recompress or evaporator,
crystallizer and centrifuge. Responsibilities included
review of operating chemistry information and
recommendation of operations practices for the unit
processes in the system.

Participated in thc startup of the steam systems by
evaluation of steam cycle chemistry data. Reviewed data
to determine reasons for steam chemistry contaminants
being above applicable limits and recommended

I SHAW ENVIRONMENTAL, INC.
OGC122006T

additional data collection. Assisted in the identification
of a defective deaerating condenser as the cause of high
s team conductivity.

AES Granite Ridge Combined Cycle Power Project.
Preparcd PID's, spccifications, bid evaluations, reviewed
manufacturers drawings and supported the design of the
cooling tower makeup treatment, demineralizer,
chemical feed, steam water analysis, wastewater and
sump pump and tank heater systems. The cooling tower
makeup system is a 3000 gpm system comprised of a
biological filter, clarifier and multimedia filter.

Assisted in the permitting and licensing of the project by
preparing answers to agency questions on water and
wastewater. Prepared draft \,\'astewater Permit for
discharge to local POT\V, including calculation of
concentrations of chemical releases. Developed
chemistry monitoring program for analysis of makeup
water and potable water. Evaluated alternati\'e
technologies for treatment of sewage effluent as makeup
to the plant circulating \vater system and for treatment
of municipal water as makeup to the plant demineralized
water treatment s\'stem

Petersburg Station, Indianapolis Power & Light
Company. As Lead Environmental Engineer,
supported the submittal of a plant NPOES permit by
compiling a cluantitative site water balance for the
existing four unit coal-fired power plant, each with wet
limestone scrubber. The \vater balance included ri\'Cr
water, storm\vater and \vastewater collection and
trea tmen t.

Prepared an erosion control plan for construction of the
rGD systems in accordancc with Indiana Department of
Environmental Management Guidelines.

Prepared engineering and design modifications to the
site storm drain system to improve coal pile runoff
collection and segregation process wastewater from
stormwater. Project included the design of lift stations,
redesign and installation of new catch basins and
drainage piping, and a survey of plant drawings to
identify dry weather drainage flow.

Sithe Energy - Mystic, Fore River and Medway
Projects.
