Completed design review of makeup water <br />treatment systems at two ~lirant project startups. <br /> <br />The Bogue system consisted of fixed film biological <br />reactor, dissolved air flotation, multimedia filtration, <br />reverse osmosis and clectrodeionization. t\lakeup water <br />to the facility is from the ~lontego Bay municipal <br />wastewater treatment plant. <br /> <br />The Sugar Creek system consisted or iron precipitation, <br />filtration, re\'erse osmosis and electrodeionization. Loss <br />of ferric chloride feed pumps had caused contamination <br />of the entire system \vith ferric hydroxide, requiring <br />substantial cleaning of \'essels and filters and reverse <br />osmosis membrane cleaning. Confirmed the adecluacy <br />of the system to switch makeup water source from river <br />water to ground \vater. <br /> <br />Vermont Yankee. Prepared studies e\'aluating the <br />impact of a 750,[\,\' uprate of the Vermont Yankee <br />Nuclear Power Plant on silt deposition in the cooling <br />tower and on the concentration factor for Total <br />Dissoked Solids in the plant circulating water system. <br /> <br />PPN Combined Cycle Project (India). Prepared a <br />specification for re\'erse osmosis desalination of <br />seawater to provide potable and makeup water for <br />combined cycle power project. Developed a monitoring <br />program to analyze seawater to support desalination <br />system design. ,\ssisted in the evaluation of proposals <br />and the selection of the system supplier for the system <br />and detailed design de\'elopment of the system. <br />Reviewed specifications for chemical feed, sanitary waste <br />treatment and gaseous chlorination systems for the <br />project <br /> <br />Fossil Project Development. Prepared specifications, <br />e\'aluated bids, prepared conceptual design, and cluantity <br />development for piping, valves, and instruments for <br />water treatment, e1ectrochlorination, condensate <br />polisher, waste treatment, chemical feed, and <br /> <br />SHAW ENVIRONMENTAL, INC. <br /> <br />OGC 122006T <br /> <br />steam/water analysis systems to support lump sum <br />turnkey projects for national and international projects. <br /> <br />Fresh Kin Landfin Leachate Treatment, New York <br />Department of Sanitation. As Lead El1\'ironmental <br />Engineer, prO\'ides re\'iew of process chemistry data and <br />recommendations for operational changes for a <br />sequencing batch reactor (SBR) operated to nitrify and <br />precipitate metals from landfill leachate from a <br />municipal solid waste landfill. <br /> <br />E.W. Stout Generating Station. As Lead <br />Environmental Engineer, supef\'ised the design of the <br />storm drainage systems for the addition of two <br />combustion turbine units to the station. Prepared the <br />drainage design submittal to the City of Indianapolis to <br />construct the system and the Erosion Control plan to <br />the Indiana Department of El1\,ironmental ~Ianagement. <br /> <br />Aliveri Power Project, Public Power Corporation of <br />Greece. As Consulting Engineer, prepared <br />specifications and design dra\vings for a tender <br />document for two 600-~[\'\' coal-fired plants. Systems <br />included reverse osmosis desalination for boiler and flue <br />gas desulfurization system makeup, waste\vater <br />collection and treatment, steam/water analysis, and <br />chemical injection. Plot plans and layouts were <br />developed for water and wastewater treatment systems. <br /> <br />Finch Pruyin Paper Co., Glens Falls, NY. .As Project <br />Engineer, responsible for engineering and design of <br />projects to retrofit bulk chemical storage facilities and <br />additional demineralized water production facilities at <br />the paper mill. Also responsible for cost and scheduling <br />activities. Designed chemistry laboratory facilities for <br />steam plant. <br /> <br />Walling Ford Municipal Wastewater Treatment <br />Plant, Wallingford, CT. As Lead El1\'ironmental <br />Engineer, prepared Operating and t\Iaintenance Manuals <br />for ~Icchanical Ec}uipment installed in the 8 t\IGD <br />municipal waste\V'ater treatment plant which employs <br />Rotating Biological Contactors for secondary and tertiary <br />treatment. <br /> <br />RICHARD A.
