First Place - Outstanding Redevelopment Study, Gold
Coast Section of the American Planning Association

Located in the heart of Miami, this 56-acre brownfield is
the largest redevelopment project in the City. Kimley-Horn
and Urban Resource Group (URG), in association with
Zyscovich, Inc., worked with the architectural design team
to develop a truly urban mixed-use master plan that can
support 4,500 residential units; 1.2 million square feet of
commercial development; and offices and parks. The
design includes nearly 12,000 linear feet of urban
streetscapes, a linear park system, an urban plaza, and a
series of vest pocket parks. Kimley-Horn authored
streetscape design guidelines for the project and prepared
a Regional Activity Center (RAG) justification report to
increase DRI thresholds. We have designed all public
infrastructure including roadways, utilities, traffic,
landscape, and urban planning. To date, the firm has also
been the landscape architect and civil engineer of record
for all private-sector developments within the project.
South Pointe Streetscape and Park - Miami
Beach, FL
The South Pointe Streetscape project was the first phase
of a capital improvements program for the world-renowned
"South Beach" section of Miami Beach. The project
consisted of complete reconstruction of drainage system,
sidewalks and a high level of finish streetscape/hardscape
including an interactive fountain, landscape, irrigation,
colored concrete sidewalks, brick pavers, street furniture,
and an at grade street events plaza,

Our firm was contracted to update the Duany Plater-
Zyberk master plan for South Pointe and prepare complete
construction documents for all the improvements. Working
closely with DPZ, we updated the master plan and
prepared a comprehensive phasing plan and cost
estimates for the City-on time and within budget.
Together with the City, we developed an aggressive
schedule for Phase I.
