The effects of growth and development have taken their toll on the large tracts of pristine wilderness located within Palm Beach County. The city and regional water resource managers retained some of the last parcels of land which were truly pris- tine wetlands. The Grassy Waters Preserve encompasses over 19 square miles and when joined with Apoxee Wilderness Preserve totals over 20 square miles of urban wilderness. The Wakodahatchee Wetlands is a 56 acre wetland park and was the first "created" wetland in Palm Beach County. Land Design South had the opportunity to develop the master plan, complete construction documents and provide construction observation for these projects with nationally recognized engineering firms.
