SECTION 02722 <br />STABILIZED SUBGRADE <br />PARTI GENERAL <br />1.01 SECTION INCLUDES <br />This section consists of the construction of a stabilized roadway subgrade for those areas to be paved <br />under this Project. <br />1.02 RELATED SECTIONS <br />1. Section - 02319 Excavating, Backfilling and Compacting For Paving <br />1.03 REFERENCES <br />Florida Department OF Transportation, Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction. <br />Section 160 - Stabilizing <br />1.03 SITE CONDITIONS <br />Site is subject to frequent inundating rains, and may be subject to localized flooding and surface flows. <br />Site is subject to groundwater conditions which may impede the Work sequence. <br />PART 2 PRODUCTS <br />2, 01. MATERIALS <br />In accordance with Florida Department OF Transportation, Standard Specifications for Road and <br />Bridge Construction. Section 160 - Stabilizing Type "B" <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br />3.01 INSTALLATION: ` <br />Construct in accordance with Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction. Section 160 - <br />Stabilizing. <br />3.02 MOISTURE CONTENT: <br />Contractor shall prepare and bring each layer of fill to ( + / -) 3% of optimum moisture. The testing <br />laboratory shall determine soils type and required moisture content. Where moisture fails to meet <br />specified limits, Contractor shall rework, re- compact, and retest failed areas as follows: <br />1. High Moisture Content: <br />Should moisture content exceed established maximum moisture content, Contractor shall spread, <br />disk, aerate, and / or otherwise cause the moisture content to be reduced to within uniform <br />maximum allowable limits. <br />2. Low Moisture Content: <br />Should moisture content not reach established minimum moisture content, Contractor shall disk, <br />sprinkler, water, mix, and /or otherwise bring the moisture content to within uniform minimum <br />allowable limits. <br />02722-1 <br />
