Materials falling within the above specifications, encountered <br />during the excavation, may be stored in segregated stockpiles <br />for reuse. All material which, in the opinion of the Engineer, is <br />not suitable for reuse shall be spoiled as specified herein for <br />disposal of unsuitable materials. <br />07/03 02221 -4 03- 4138.A <br />D. <br />Rock Bedding: <br />1. Rock bedding shall be 3/8" to 3/4" washed and graded <br />limerock. This rock shall be graded so that 99% will pass a <br />' <br />3/4" screen and 80% will be retained on a No. 8 screen. <br />PART 3 - <br />EXECUTION <br />3.01 GENERAL <br />' <br />A. <br />All excavation, backfill and grading necessary to complete the work <br />shall be made by the Contractor and the cost thereof shall be included <br />' <br />B. <br />in the Contract price. <br />Material shall be furnished as required from off site sources and hauled <br />to site. <br />C. <br />The Contractor shall take all necessary precautions to maintain the <br />work area in a safe and workable condition. <br />' <br />D. <br />The Contractor shall protect his work at all times by flagging, marking, <br />lighting and barricading. It shall also be the Contractor's responsibility <br />to preserve and protect all above and underground structures, pipe <br />lines, conduits, cables, drains, or utilities which are existing at the time <br />he encounters them. Failure of the Drawings to show the existence of <br />these obstructions shall not relieve the Contractor from this <br />responsibility. The cost of repair of damage which occurs to these <br />obstructions during or as a result of construction shall be borne by the <br />Contractor without additional cost to the Owners. <br />3.02 TRENCH <br />EXCAVATION <br />A. <br />Excavation for all trenches required for the installation of pipes shall be <br />made to the depths indicated on the Drawings. Excavate trench to <br />provide minimum of 30 -inch clear cover over the pipe bell unless <br />otherwise noted on the Drawings. Excavate in such manner and to <br />such widths as will give suitable room for laying the pipe within the <br />trenches, for bracing and supporting and for pumping and drainage <br />facilities. The trench width at the top of the pipe shall not exceed the <br />allowable as determined by the depth of cut and indicated on the <br />Drawings. <br />07/03 02221 -4 03- 4138.A <br />
