tC. <br />Broadcast under foliage canopy and incorporate into soil. <br />D. <br />Water immediately until root structure of plant is wet. Assure <br />' <br />protection from fertilizer burn. <br />E. <br />Apply foliar nutrient spray at time of planting (summer excluded) and <br />' <br />repeat three months from first application. Schedule fertilization with <br />Landscape Architect. Drench palm leaves with foliar nutrient spray at <br />the manufacturer's recommended rate to all Phoenix Palm species. <br />3.06 WEED CONTROL <br />A. <br />Apply post- emergent herbicide, "Round -up" as manufactured by <br />Monsanto Corp. or approved equal, per manufacturer's rate and <br />method of application to all landscape bed areas as necessary. <br />' <br />B. <br />Apply pre- emergent herbicide "Ron- Star" before mulching and again as <br />necessary throughout required maintenance period to prevent weed <br />seed germination. <br />C. <br />The Landscape Contractor shall verify that the herbicide and <br />application technique will not damage plant material prior to <br />application, and shall replace, and /or repair damage to any plant injured <br />by herbicide application at no cost to the Owner. <br />3.07 <br />TOP MULCHING <br />1 <br />A. <br />Top mulch planting pits, trenches, and areas within two days after <br />planting. <br />B. <br />Cover watering basin or bed evenly with 3 inch compacted depth of <br />top mulch material. <br />C. <br />Water thoroughly, immediately after mulching. <br />D. <br />"Cut in" mulch at plant bed /sod line. <br />E. <br />Hose down planting area with fine spray to wash leaves of plants at <br />least twice a week, or as required. <br />' <br />F. <br />Exclude mulch from annual and Bromeliad beds. <br />3.08 GUYING AND STAKING OF TREES <br />A. Stake trees as shown on the drawings except where they are planted <br />in special locations where guying is not feasible. <br />1 . Stake Installation: <br />a. Drive stakes perpendicularly, 3 feet into ground at edge <br />of root ball. Do not drive stake through soil separator or <br />' drainage gravel if present.
