7.0 <br />7.1 <br />7.2 <br />VINYL SHEET PILING <br />MATERIAL: <br />A. Vinyl Sheet Piles are Northstar series 500 or ENGINEER approved. <br />B. The sheet pile lengths are shown on the Drawings and shall meet the <br />requirements of ASTM A328. Piles are of the Z section with continuous interlock <br />the length of the section. <br />DRIVING SYSTEMS: <br />Vinyl sheet piles shall be driven using either a vibratory pile driving system or a drop <br />hammer system. <br />7.3 DRIVING METHODS: <br />A. Piles shall be driven using the panel driving method or the staggered driving <br />method. <br />B. Piles shall be guided by two sets of guides installed at two different levels. The <br />upper guide will control the pile and hammer to insure the pile is vertical. <br />C. Driving caps with grooves for the piles are required to protect pile heads from <br />damage. <br />7.4 DRIVING CORRECTIONS: <br />Piles which develop a transverse lean shall be extracted and re- driven using more <br />restrictive control methods. <br />TS -26 <br />RJ IO&ONSUNNY ISLESf ECHSPECS <br />
