' 1.04 DESCRIPTION <br />A. <br />Concrete shall be of Portland cement, ASTM C -94, fine aggregate, coarse aggregate, water <br />' <br />Comp. Str. Water Content <br />and admixtures as specified and shall be ready- mixed, or transit -mixed concrete. All <br />' <br />psi at 28 days gals /100 lbs* <br />constituents, including admixture, shall be batched at the central batch plant. <br />' <br />B. <br />Reinforced concrete shall conform to ACI Specification 318 -89 or latest revision. <br />C. <br />Field testing and inspection services required will be provided by the Contractor. Cost of <br />4000 5.85 <br />such work, except as specifically stated otherwise, will be paid for by the Contractor. <br />1 <br />*Maximum; <br />Methods of test will comply in detail with the latest applicable ASTM Methods of Testing. <br />D. <br />Samples of constituents and of concrete as placed will be subjected to laboratory tests. <br />including free water on aggregates, and water in admixture solution. <br />Materials incorporated in the work shall conform to approved samples. <br />* *Minimum; increase as necessary to meet other requirements. <br />E. <br />Under special circumstances, the Engineer may allow minor deviations from the material <br />to "controlled" concrete subject to specific inspection. <br />requirements specified, provided the resulting concrete quality is not adversely affected or <br />' <br />03- 4138.B <br />provided a suitable adjustment in cement content is made to compensate for such <br />deviations without cost to the Owner. <br />1.05 SUBMITTALS <br />A. <br />Submit, as provided in the General Conditions and Section 01340, shop drawings showing <br />' <br />placement of forms, form joints, major inserts and blockouts. <br />1.06 QUALITY <br />ASSURANCE <br />A. <br />The actual acceptance of aggregates and development of mix proportions to produce <br />concrete conforming to the specific requirements shall be determined by means of prior <br />laboratory tests made by the Concrete Supplier or the Contractor at his expense with the <br />constituents to be used on the work. <br />B. <br />The Concrete Supplier shall submit through the Contractor to the Engineer for approval the <br />concrete mix he intends to use, designed within the limits of these specifications, listing the <br />brand of cement, source and results of tests of aggregates and admixtures not later than 14 <br />days prior to the beginning of placing concrete. <br />' <br />C. <br />The limiting strengths, water - cement ratios and cement factors as shown on (Table A) shall <br />apply.
