IJ <br />as specified herein. <br />' Section 160 -4- MATERIALS — Add the following: <br />Except that the limerock used for stabilization shall have a minimum of at least fifty percent (50 %) <br />carbonates of calcium and magnesium. <br />Section 160- 7.2.1.2 Under tolerances in Bearing Value Requirements- <br />, Delete this sub - article and substitute the following: <br />There shall be no under tolerance in the C.B.R. permitted. <br />Section 160 -10 BASIS OF PAYMENT: Delete this article and substitute the following: <br />Payment for stabilizing sub -grade shall be included under Contract Unit Price Bid Limerock <br />Material. <br />25. Limerock Base Construction (Section 200) <br />1 <br />25.01 General <br />The work specified under this Section shall consist of the construction of a base course composed of <br />Limerock. It shall be constructed on a sub -grade prepared in accordance with Section 120 -9.4 of the <br />FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION'S STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR <br />ROAD AND BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION. That portion of the street bed immediately below the <br />proposed base course, in both cuts and fills, shall be scarified, graded, shaped and compacted to <br />conform to the lines, grades and cross section shown in the Plans or as directed by the Engineer. <br />25.02 Sub -grade <br />Within the entire limits of the proposed sub - grade, the minimum density acceptable at any location <br />shall be ninety -five 95 percent, of maximum density, as determined by AASHTO T -180. <br />tPrior <br />to placing the base, the sub -grade will be inspected by the Engineer to ascertain whether or not <br />the Work satisfies the requirements as to specified density, lines, grades and cross section. <br />Where trenches for widening strips are not of sufficient width to permit the use of standard <br />compaction equipment, any compaction effort required shall be accomplished by, trench rollers, or <br />other type compaction equipment approved by the Engineer. <br />It shall be the Contractor's responsibility to maintain the required density until the base is placed on <br />the sub grade. <br />25.03 Limerock Base <br />' The base shall have an overall compacted thickness as specified and noted in the Plans. When the <br />specified compacted thickness of the base is greater than eight inches, it shall be constructed in two <br />(2) equal lifts. Each lift shall be graded and compacted to a density of not less than the above <br />1 mentioned percentages of maximum density as determined by AASHTO T -180.
