P = The price per unit bid for the asphalt concrete. <br />D = The differential in the per gallon price of liquid asphalt in accordance with the Asphalt Price <br />Index for the liquid asphalt, from the price per gallon of the liquid asphalt in the month of the date <br />bid, and the price per gallon of the liquid asphalt in the month in which the material is incorporated in <br />the project. <br />N = Number of gallons of liquid asphalt per unit bid. <br />f. The payment adjustment for prime coat and tack coat shall be based on the differential in the per <br />gallon price of the prime or tack, in accordance with the asphalt price index for the prime or tack, <br />from the price per gallon in the month of the date bid and the price per gallon in the month in which <br />the material is incorporated into the project for each gallon of prime or tack coat utilized. <br />g. A price adjustment will be made only when the current asphalt price index for the month the <br />material was incorporated into the project varies by 5% or more from the index that was applicable <br />during the month that bids were received. <br />h. The Contractor shall make available to the Engineer any tickets, scale weights, etc. needed to <br />determine the number of gallons of liquid asphalt utilized in the preparation of the asphalt concrete. <br />j. A 'Bituminous Material (Adjustment)" allowance item has been included on the Bid Form. The <br />printed amount indicated is only an estimate. The payment will be in accordance with the above <br />Special Provisions 09/24 Page 10 of 16 <br />bids were received for this contract. The Contractor will not be given the option to reject this cost <br />adjustment of bituminous materials. This adjustment will be made in accordance with the following <br />criteria: <br />a. Price adjustment will apply only to the price of bituminous material, based on the above mentioned <br />asphalt price index and will not reflect variations in the cost of transportation from the terminal to the <br />job site, cost of aggregates or any other factors involved in the composition or pricing of asphalt. <br />b. Price adjustments will be made for all bituminous material incorporated in the asphalt pavement, <br />whether paid for under a separate bid item for asphalt concrete or under other items which include the <br />cost of bituminous material. <br />c. The adjusted unit price for bituminous material will be used in preparing monthly progress <br />payments. <br />' <br />d. No price adjustment reflecting any further increases in the cost of bituminous material will be <br />made for any month after expiration of the allowable contract time including any extensions that may <br />be granted. <br />e.
