Sacramento, CA
Description
Carter & Burgess worked with the Sacramento Housing
& Redevelopment Agency to redevelop Del Paso
Nuevo, one of Sacramento's most significant community
revitalization projects. The $10.5- million project initiated the
transformation of the blighted 150 -acre, absentee -owned
neighborhood in Del Paso Heights into a homeownership
community for more than
500 residents.
The firm prepared a
comprehensive master
plan, development
guidelines, an
infrastructure plan, and
a phasing strategy.
The team designed
landscape architecture,
drainage facilities, parks
and community centers.
The team also secured
planning department
entitlements and provided
community outreach
through design charettes
and media relations.
Del Paso Nuevo combines
"New Urbanism" principles
with traditional urban
design practices to create
a unique, pedestrian -
friendly neighborhood
that emphasizes safety
and security. The Master
Plan and Development
Guidelines envision a
coherent neighborhood
with a sense of community
and character where
residents can walk to
nearby schools, parks,
shops, and transit stations.
Services
Master Planning
Streetscape Design
Landscape
Architecture
Drainage Design
Park Design
