Design was provided for storm drainage, all utilities, sidewalk <br />reconstruction, street and sidewalk lighting, irrigation and tree and shrub planting. <br />Special structural consideration had to be given to support the fragile historical <br />storefront walls during the construction of the all -new internal structures. All electrical <br />and mechanical systems were designed to conform to the public codes. The firm also <br />provided construction phase services. <br />Within the past few years, Sundance Square and Main Street have brought Fort Worth <br />national attention. They have also helped the city to recapture the western heritage <br />which is so much a part of its past <br />- and which now seems to be very <br />much a part of its future. <br />Although mechanical, electrical, <br />fire protection and plumbing <br />design services are still being <br />provided within several of the <br />historic buildings, Carter & Burgess <br />was awarded a Texas Consulting <br />Engineers Council Award of <br />Excellence for the project's <br />structural design. <br />
