As lead Product Engineer for the IBM AS /400 Wireless LAN Portable Transaction <br />Computers and Pen Based Computers, Mr. Howell led the effort to develop, test, and <br />release these products and their IBM service offerings. After their successful product <br />launch Mr. Howell turned his attention to support of the marketing of these products <br />and service offerings. He developed and presented AS /400 WLAN product <br />certification classes for the IBM and business partner sales and services <br />organizations. He provided technical consulting services to sales teams in the <br />Distribution, Public Safety, and Hospitality Industries in order to educate customers <br />on the capabilities of these products. He performed RF site surveys in preparation for <br />installation of the AS /400 WLAN products. Mr. Howell also provided expert <br />installation and steady state support of these products and their associated networks. <br />Mr. Howell's next assignment was Network Architect with IBM Global Services <br />Strategic Outsourcing. He designed high speed, high availability, multi - protocol, <br />secure customer data center networks in support of IGS network outsourcing <br />contracts. He was Lead Network Architect overseeing the design and deployment of <br />a nationwide network infrastructure supporting multiple customer care centers for a <br />large US automotive company. He was also the lead architect overseeing the design <br />of a nationwide network infrastructure, which provides out - sourced computing <br />services for a large automotive financing company. <br />Mr. Howell's last assignment is this organization was the design and deployment of a <br />large scale highly available network to support the customer care operations of a <br />nationwide energy services provider. <br />491 Mr. Howell graduated with Highest Honors with a BS in Electrical Engineering degree <br />from the University of Tennessee. He has continually kept abreast of current <br />networking technologies through formal education, self study, on the job training, and <br />certifications. He has attained IBM I/T Specialist certification and has also attained <br />the following industry certifications: Cisco Certified Design Professional, Alvarion <br />Certified Wireless Network Engineer, Cisco Certified Wireless LAN Specialist, Cisco <br />Sales Expert, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, and Master Certified Novell <br />Engineer. <br />Sarah M. Carroll, Advisory IT Specialist <br />Professional Profile <br />Dr. Sarah Carroll works as an Advisory IT Specialist for IBM Global Services. She <br />holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Boston University where she focused on <br />wireless networking. Her research interests include wireless infrared <br />communications, ad -hoc networking and broadband networking. She has <br />experience providing technical solutions to corporate executives working in a team <br />environment.
