' <br />1.04 DESCRIPTION <br />A. <br />Concrete shall be of Portland cement, ASTM C -94, fine aggregate, coarse <br />aggregate, water and admixtures as specified and shall be ready- mixed, or <br />' <br />transit -mixed concrete. All constituents, including admixture, shall be <br />batched at the central batch plant. <br />' <br />B. <br />Reinforced concrete shall conform to ACI Specification 318 -89 or latest <br />revision. <br />C. <br />Field testing and inspection services required will be provided by the <br />' <br />Contractor. Cost of such work, except as specifically stated otherwise, will <br />be paid for by the Contractor. Methods of test will comply in detail with the <br />latest applicable ASTM Methods of Testing. <br />D. <br />Samples of constituents and of concrete as placed will be subjected to <br />laboratory tests. Materials incorporated in the work shall conform to <br />' <br />approved samples. <br />E. <br />Under special circumstances, the Engineer may allow minor deviations from <br />the material requirements specified, provided the resulting concrete quality <br />' <br />is not adversely affected or provided a suitable adjustment in cement <br />content is made to compensate for such deviations without cost to the <br />Owner. <br />1.05 SUBMITTALS <br />A. <br />Submit, as provided in the General Conditions and Section 01340, shop <br />drawings showing placement of forms, form joints, major inserts and <br />blockouts. <br />' <br />1.06 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br />A. <br />The actual acceptance of aggregates and development of mix proportions <br />to produce concrete conforming to the specific requirements shall be <br />determined by means of prior laboratory tests made by the Concrete <br />Supplier or the Contractor at his expense with the constituents to be used <br />on the work. <br />B. <br />The Concrete Supplier shall submit through the Contractor to the Engineer <br />for approval the concrete mix he intends to use, designed within the limits of <br />these specifications, listing the brand of cement, source and results of tests <br />of aggregates and admixtures not later than 14 days prior to the beginning <br />of placing concrete. <br />' <br />C. <br />The limiting strengths, water - cement ratios and cement factors as shown on <br />(Table A) shall apply.
