E. Tree and palm crowns shall be protected with shade cloth to prevent <br />desiccation and wind burn. Crowns shall be periodically sprayed with <br />water to help ensure against desiccation. <br />F. Groundcovers designated as divisions will consist of healthy offshoots <br />with adequate root mass to ensure successful transplant. <br />G. Inspect all plant material for insect/disease problems. Take appropriate <br />action before loading to ensure all plant material is free of any harmful <br />insect/disease problem. This precaution does not preclude rejection at <br />the site. Apply pesticides in strict accordance with manufacturer's <br />recommendations and all government standards. <br />H. Plant material shall be handled only in ways and means accepted by the <br />industry and approved by the Landscape Architect. <br />I. Plant material shall be planted the same day it is dug. Preparation of <br />planting pits or beds shall be coordinated to ensure this schedule. <br />3.02 PLANTING <br />A. Tree Spade Material: <br />1. Plant materials that are tree spaded and are relocated to areas <br />accessible by tree spade equipment shall be planted in tree spaded <br />planting pits as required. <br />2. Plant materials that are tree spaded and are relocated to areas that <br />are not accessible by tree spade equipment shall be planted <br />according to procedures described for new plant materials in <br />Section 02490. <br />3. Contractor shall continue watering and caring for relocated material <br />as described in paragraph 3.04 and as described for new material, <br />Section 02490. <br />B. Hand Dug Material: <br />1. Relocated plant material shall be planted according to procedures <br />described for new material, Section 02490. Additionally, terrasorb <br />shall be added to backfill. <br />2. Contractor shall continue watering and caring for relocated material <br />as described in paragraph 3.04 and as described for new material, <br />Section 02490. Relocated material which does not survive shall be <br />replaced with equal canopy at no cost to the Owner. <br />3.03 FERTILIZER <br />A. Relocated plant materials shall be fertilized immediately after <br />transplanting. <br />B. Fertilizer shall be applied according to procedures described for new <br />materials, 02484 and 02490. <br />07/06 02481 -7 05 -5564 <br />
