BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT AND RELEVANCE TO THIS CONTRACT (Include scope, size, and cost) <br />This is a current and ongoing project for Charlotte County within the <br />Parkside CRA for enhancement and reconstruction of Harbor Boulevard. <br />Harbor Blvd. at U.S. 41 is the main gateway entrance for the Parkside <br />district, the oldest section of Port Charlotte also known as the medical <br />district. Improvements include extensive landscaping with tree shading, <br />addition of 10' multi-use paths on both sides, reconstruction of the <br />roadway, drainage, curbs, gateway signage, upgraded <br />lighting/regulatory signs and comfort stations with a bicycle repair <br />station. The project also consisted of the reconstruction of utilities including <br />major upgrades for CCU (Charlotte County Utilities). Utilities involved <br />are watermains, gravity sanitary sewer, lift stations, force mains and <br />reclaim water main. FPL has a transmission line that will be relocated <br />underground. Permitting for the project included FDOT, FDEP and <br />SWFWMD. <br /> <br />Location of the enhancement improvements for the 4-lane Harbor Boulevard will be between U.S. 41 (Tamiami Trail) and <br />Olean Boulevard with construction scheduled to start this fall. The Parkside CRA, Parkside sub-committees including <br />Landscape and the public have been very involved as Citizen's input is important. Also important to this project is <br />maintaining access for the road and all the commercial businesses and residential condominium's driveways at all times <br />throughout construction. <br />Project Cost: $7.5 million <br />Related Discipline: Streetscape Design, Transportation/Traffic Engineering, Landscape Design, Land Surveying, Irrigation <br />Design, Public Involvement, Hardscape Design, lighting designs/plans, street graphics and wayfinding <br />25.
