Inc,

Professional General Engineering Consultant
for the North Bay Road Pedestrian and EmergencyVehicle Bridge,
and the Town Center Park Observation Deck and Boardwalk
Miami-Dade County

Project Awareness
The design of the Emergency and Pedestrian Bridge and associated roadway
reconstruction in conjunction with a boardwalk is an important project for the City
of Sunny Isles Beach, This project will have a profound impact on the visual and
physical features to the surrounding neighborhoods. Essentially, a bridge and plaza
structure, this project must be tailored to fit a constrained/environmentaly sensitive
site, It also must exhibit world-class design and aesthetic enhancements to be
classified as a cornerstone of the Sunny Isles Beach Town Center,

To better prepare ourselves for this important project
our team attended the mandatory Pre-Bid Meeting,
reviewed the City's Comprehensive Plan, performed
site visits and conducted numerous meetings with local
agencies of interest.

The project entails the design of a bridge structure
along North Bay Road connecting 174th Street to
172nd Street, The bridge will be designed to handle
emergency vehicles as well as thru vehicle traffic in the
future, In the near term this structure will be developed
as an elaborate pedestrian plaza, The bridge structure
width will be comprised of two 13-ft travel lanes and two
7-ft outside shoulders.

In addition to the pedestrain bridge, a boardwalk will
be incorporated into the design to connect the bridge
with the Town Center Park. The boardwalk will serve as
a component of the City's Pedestrian Mobility plan,

The City intends over time to redevelop the lands .
adjacent to the boardwalk and the success of this
project will further move the City towards the goal of
creating an "active pedestrian environment through
high quality design of public spaces as well as private
buildings,"

~@M~~~
g;'\:~ ~~.:
,'J/t ' ~

"< ^f,.'
