<br />I. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />I. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br />. <br /> <br />ba <br /> <br />Bermello Ajamil & Partners,lnc, Professional General Engineering Consultant <br />for the North Bay Road Pedestrian and Emergency Vehicle Bridge, <br />and the Town Center Park Observation Deck and Boardwalk <br />Miami-Dade County <br /> <br />ELEMENTS OF SPECIAL FOCUS <br />The B&A team has reviewed the Request for Proposal. as well as all the supporting <br />documents, discussed the project issues and made numerous field visits, We created <br />individual task groups to evaluate and research the project and have concluded <br />that there are six elements on this project that will require special focus: <br /> <br />· Town Center Vision <br />· Roadway Geometry <br />· Bridge Structure <br />· Environmental Permitting <br />· Landscape Architecture <br />· Public Involvement <br /> <br />Our understanding and approach to addressing these elements are described in <br />the following paragraphs, <br /> <br />Town Center Vision <br />We believe that the bridge and boardwalk need to be more than physical structures <br />that connect residential and commercial areas together, The appearance of <br />these linear connections should convey a positive message of the City's mission to <br />encourage quality development and redevelopment as well as connecting the <br />residential areas via pedestrian and bicycle accessways, We envision designing <br />an overall project that not only satisfies design standards, applicable codes and <br />budget constraints, but also is an aesthetically-appealing structure that delights <br />pedestrians, motorists and the surrounding neighborhoods, The B&A team <br />has extensive experience designing award winning pedestrian and vehicular <br />environments and will utilize our Urban Design expertise to develop a project which <br />further enhances the Town Center Vision for the area south of the site and the new <br />park at the eastern end of the proposed boardwalk (see exhibit L - 1,0), This project <br />also offers a unique opportunity to connect the south and north segments of the <br />bicycle/pedestrian greenway proposed in the comprehensive plan, <br /> <br />Roadway Geometry <br />Our team has developed two viable preliminary alternatives which incorporate <br />the requirement of holding thewest side right <br />of way line and providing a future envelope <br />for the conversion of the pedestrian bridge <br />to traffic bearing section, Alternative 1 <br />provides 70-ft curves at the centerline and <br />includes a tangent between the curves. <br />Alternative 2 (shown on the left) provides <br />95-ft curves at the centerline and has a full <br />reverse curve alignment. <br /> <br /> <br />__!5.R;~rjz"t~1,~",>:f~~<:f.~ '" \~;: .
