Exfiltration trench system to meet water quality requirements and disposal
via drainage well.

. Storm water treatment unit such as Stormceptor or CDS to address water
quality with a gravity outfall to the canal.

Typically percolation rates are very poor in the City of Sunny Isles therefore
requiring excessive exfiltration trench lengths, As a result, we would
recommend option 2 above which will result in a more economical drainage
solution,

Bridge Structure
In order to connect North Bay Road from 174th Street to 172nd Street, the construc-
tion of a new bridge spanning over a finger canal is required, The canal is located
between the Winston Towers on the north side and the Porto Bellagio and Avila
South Condos on the south side, The Intracoastal Waterway is located on the west
end of the canal. The bridge shall primarily be used to serve pedestrians, bicycles
and emergency vehicles, The bridge shall also be wide enough to accommodate
two (2) 13'-0" vehicular lanes, two (2) 7'-0" shoulders and traffic railings, The two
vehicular lanes would allow traffic to continue on North Bay Road in the future, Due
to right-of-way constraints and existing roadway alignment, the bridge geometry
shall be complicated with a reverse curved alignment and heavy skew.

In order to maintain the existing roadway grade at the bridge landfall and provide
the required vertical clearance above the canal, the bridge superstructure depth
needs to be minimized as much as possible. From past experience, a vertical
clearance of 2'-0" above the design high water elevation and 6'-0" above the
normal high water elevation is required as a minimum, The bridge length shall be
shortened by extending the existing retaining wall along the north side of Porto
Bellagio Condos located on the southwest corner of the canal. The canal width is

www.bermelloajamil.com

4
