Collins Avenue and Ocean Drive between the island's southern tip and 25th
Street. This area, known as the Art Deco District, with the largest collection of
such buildings in the world, was dubbed South Beach. In the 1950s, thousands
of Cubans immigrated to south Florida, and many of them settled in South
Beach. Today, alter being reborn in the '80s and '90s, and now boasting 88,000
residents (55% of whom are foreign born), South Beach has become an
international tourist mecca.
