Where possible, all new employees will begin work in a low hazard environment <br />and be assigned to experience, safety trained crews. <br /> <br />b. Supervisor Trainina: <br /> <br />On-site supervisory/lead personnel will be given periodic instruction for maintaining and <br />enhancing their communication and instructional skills as it relates to safety. This will be <br />accomplished by the following means: <br /> <br />c. Periodic Talks/Meetinas: <br /> <br />Will be conducted by Operations Manager, Project Manager & The Area Supervisor <br />Discuss actual conditions in each work area. <br />Include time for questions and concerns about safety. <br />Keep written records of topics covered and lists of attendees <br /> <br />d. Specialized Trainina <br /> <br />SMG understands OSHA requires specialized training for many operations, including <br />Hazard Communication, blood borne pathogens, fork lift operations, lock out/tag out and <br />confined spaces. All employees will be given initial training supplemented by periodic <br />refresher/in-service training relating to specific OSHA requirements. <br /> <br />e. Chemical <br /> <br />This training includes the OSHA Hazard Communications Standard and the Florida Right- <br />to-Know Law. Employees will be trained on the safe use of chemicals in the workplace _ <br />before they begin to work with a chemical and as new chemical hazards are introduced <br />into the workplace. This specialized training includes: <br /> <br />· Provisions of the Hazard Communication standard. <br />· How to detect a chemical exposure. <br />· Physical and health hazards of the chemicals. <br />· Use and availability of Material Safety Data Sheets. <br /> <br />9 <br />
