The concept drawings
were developed as a result of citizen concerns over the lack of sight visibility along the
approach off Southbound Collins onto Westbound SR 826. According to FOOT staff and
their consultants, the concerns were substantiated.

The estimated project cost for the standard FDOT intersection improvements based on
the conceptual drawings is $142,000. The estimated cost for city requested enhanced
crosswalks, concrete pavers for the sidewalk, and landscaping is $167,000. FDOT
requested that the city commit local funds for the difference which is approximately
$25,000.00; however, $5,000.00 has been added to cover the cost of enhanced handrails
not included in the original breakdown.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

The FDOT District 6 will be reviewing projects included in their 5-year Work Program.
It is anticipated that the work program will be finalized in early 2012.
